Elakizhi
Herbal Leaf Bolus Therapy
About this treatment
Elakizhi (also called Patrapotala Sweda) uses small cloth boluses filled with freshly chopped medicinal leaves — castor, drumstick, calotropis, tamarind and others — fried in herbal oil and applied warm to the affected areas of the body.
The combination of herbal heat, oil and the rhythmic dabbing action of the boluses works exceptionally well for arthritic joints, sports injuries, chronic muscle pain and stiffness associated with Vata disorders.
